PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC – Mercom Corporation announced today that it recently raised $27,000 for local charity, Teach My People, during its 5^th Annual Mercom Charity Golf Tournament held at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club on November 7^th, 2011.

“The hard work that the Teach My People staff and volunteers provide our community children will result in the first graduate of the program to attend college in the fall of 2012.  Mercom, our partners, customers, sponsors and participants were touched that our fundraiser resulted in over $27,000 in funds raised benefiting children’s educational needs.  Mercom is proud to support a great local charity that directly impacts our future. Teach My People is a Christian non-profit organization that has served the Pawleys Island community since 1999.  Teach My People offers a high quality, no-cost after school program for 85 at-risk elementary, middle, and high school students along with an eight week summer enrichment program.  Their mission is to: Teach our youth to overcome academic, economic and social challenges by providing a Christian foundation that develops spiritual growth, moral character and personal discipline.
