Stella Mercado – President/CEO
Stella Mercado co-founded Mercom Corporation in 2000 and serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of the Board of Directors for Mercom Corporation.
As CEO, Ms. Mercado has overall responsibility for corporate finance, treasury, revenue, accounting, and tax policy, as well as regulatory reporting and supervision. In her role as President, she aligns corporate and strategic planning, provides overall direction for the company, and incorporates a fun and optimistic corporate environment.
Ms. Mercado is a Board Member of the Wall College of Business at Coastal Carolina University; Teach My People, a local nonprofit organization promoting children’s education; Coastal Montessori Charter School, a public school choice offering Montessori curriculum; and is a founding member of the Grand Strand Technology Business Council. She is an active member of industry associations such as AFCEA and BICSI. Ms. Mercado received a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish from the University of Virginia and completed The Darden Executive Program in 2014. She lives in Pawleys Island, SC and enjoys golfing, boating, softball, reading, and spending time with her family.
Jeff Miller – Chief Financial Officer
Jeff Miller graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Business Administration and an MBA in Finance. Mr. Miller joined Mercom Corporation in 2008. Prior to his joining Mercom, Mr. Miller was a principal in a Wealth Management and Business Consulting firm and was managing partner of the Business Consulting Division. Before his engagement in consulting, Mr. Miller had been the Chief Financial Officer for Canal Industries, a diversified Forest Product, and Investment company with approximately $600 million in sales. Mr. Miller is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
Lisa Hayes – Executive Vice President of Federal Sales
Lisa Hayes joined Mercom as Executive Vice President of Business Development on 2016. Hayes is an industry veteran with over twenty (20) years of sales leadership experience in both VAR and federal IT solutions business. Hayes is responsible for VAR, Outside Sales, Marketing, and Vendor Relations at Mercom.
Hayes began her career as an Account Representative at Sufka subsequently joining Force 3, serving as a Senior Account Manager for nine (9) years. She then transitioned to Hewlett-Packard for four (4) years as a Regional Account Manager. Most recently she took on more responsibility while at World Wide Technology as the Director of Federal Healthcare where she built a team of over twenty-five (25) employees with over $180 million in revenue.
She has a long list of professional affiliations including Women on Course, AFCEA, HIMSS/HIMSS National Capital Area and San Antonio Chapters, National Association of Female Executives and the League of Women Voters in the San Antonio area. A partial list of her professional awards includes the Hewlett-Packard Shooting Star Award, Account Manager of the Year Award, Most Valuable Player Sales Award, Producer of the Year, Presidents Club, and GSA Industry-Partner Excellence Award. Her volunteer activities include Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military, Operation Jumpstart and National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic.
Courtney Newman – Director of Human Resources
Courtney Newman joined the Mercom team in 2016 as Director of Human Resources after relocating to Pawleys Island from Charleston, SC. Mrs. Newman has nine years of Human Resources experience with an emphasis on Talent Attraction, Management, and Retention. Prior to Mercom, Mrs. Newman served as Director of Human Resources and Talent Acquisition at SPARC, where she was instrumental in growing the company’s overall size by 900% in her five-year tenure. She helped to achieve this growth by implementing best practices hiring techniques, building a unique talent competency, and creating an award-winning culture for the organization. Previously, Mrs. Newman worked for a leading staffing and recruiting firm where she focused on recruitment, account saturation for major clients, and training and development of all new recruiters for the company’s South Carolina offices.
A University of South Carolina graduate, Mrs. Newman received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Retailing and graduated cum laude. Mrs. Newman is fulfilled when helping people to grow professionally. She is active in the local tech and academic communities. Mrs. Newman is a South Carolina native and enjoys spending her free time traveling, reading, boating, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband.
Larry Mercado – VP of the Board of Directors
Larry Mercado co-founded Mercom Corporation in 2000 and serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors for Mercom Corporation.
Mr. Mercado serves as Treasurer for the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and as a Director of the Alliance for Economic Development of Georgetown County. Mr. Mercado is a founding member of the Grand Strand Technology Business Council and is an active member of industry associations such as PMI, BISCI, AFCEA, and InfraGard. Mr. Mercado holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Virginia, completed the 2014 Stanford Executive Program, and is also a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
