Cable Installation Technician II

Mercom is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Cable Installation Technician – Level 2! Applicants will perform activities related to the installation of cable plants in preparation for the installation of local area networks and client server systems. Three to five years of voice, data or video cabling experience is required. A strong background in ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and a working knowledge of LAN cabling is also required. BICSI certifications are preferred. This position requires extensive travel. Candidates must be available to begin work within 2 weeks.

- Ability to perform unsupervised.
- Installation of
cable support systems and prepared workstation outlets.
- Requires the
proper placement of inside and outside cable for voice and data and could
include both copper and fiber.
- Activities
include terminations, testing, labeling and troubleshooting.
- Installation and
knowledge of pulled horizontal station
cables and backbone riser cables,
terminated UTP cables and fiber optic cables, tested UTP copper and
fiber cabling, fire stopped walls.
- Willing and able
to travel to job sites.
- Perform other
related duties as assigned.
